This art exhibition reflects Mexico's identity using this precious metal with the talent of the highest artistic expression achieved by silversmiths, designers, artists and jewelers. Silver is the heart of Mexico. Its mere mention conjures up dreams of ambition, wealth and conquest; it speaks of traditions, design and art.
The art collection comes from the Arocena Collection, famous for the quality of itsColonial and European silversmith crafts, the Tane Collection, a Mexican company that has gained recognition for its high quality silver artistic crafts, and the Hangzhou Museum in Zhejiang, which has an exhibitionnineteenth century Mexican coins at their museum.
The Arocena Museum offers a rich collection of silver art pieces for liturgical use such as chalices, goblets, chrismatories, monstrances, pyxes, tithing plates, baptismal shells, cruets, censers and lecterns. These artwork pieces have been collected by the Arocena family for over a century.
TaneJewelery Companyhas been given the task of gathering duringthe last 50 years innovative and talented artwork from Mexico and other foreign countries and presenting their careful selection of sculptures, jewelry, jars, cutlery and other objects in Shanghai.
In addition, the Hangzhou Museum displays a collection of ten Mexican coins over a century year old (1864-1894), which were found in the capital of Zhejiang province city in 2005, and show the bilateral relationship which exists between the Mexican and Chinese.
