The serial works on “Tracing the Source” cost Mr. Gong five years to accomplish.During those five years,he drove for tens of thousands of kilometers to Tibet for six times,seeking for the origin of Chinese civilization.The works are created with his perception of nature and culture,and with his apperception of emotional impact caused by the perception.From the level of ceramic creation to expound his works,the significance to trace the source lies in the quest for the direction of Jingdezhen’s ceramic art.The works are regarded as a rewarding attempt for him to paint with the flavor of the times.
“Tracing the Source----Ceramic Painting Exhibition of Gong Xunming”, planned by Huang Libin who comes from Shanghai Ruhai Culture Media, will be inaugurated in Shanghai at 3:00 PM on August 24, 2014. This exhibition is aimed to fully present Mr. Gong’s years of artistic practice and to systematically specify the historical changes of his creating concept, technique, and language. With his ingenious artistic layout, Gong will exhibit over 30 works of ceramic painting and ice sculpture created in recent years. Before the exhibition, there is going to be a seminar on the research of ceramic painting linguistics. The seminar is to provide theoretical basis for promoting the innovation of establishing an independent painting category for Chinese contemporary ceramic art.
The exhibited works by him are mainly overglaze ones--classy and magnificent,and full of brilliant expression of emotions and talents.The pictures brim over with expensive force;the colors are mild and implicit;the exaggerated arrangement and lines abound with limitless sense of movement.The extensive and vibrant contents in his works harmonize perfectly and make his paintings possess not only thick oriental element and taste.but also abstract expression through modern composition of points and lines.The special aesthetic feeling of ceramic language is represented by his works incisively and vividly.
