Organizer: Long Museum (Chongqing)
Artist: Li Qiang
The "Li Qiang Solo Exhibition" hosted by Long Museum (Chongqing) will be presented to the public on September 21, 2018. After holding a solo exhibition at Ueno Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, Japan in 2015, the artist once again presents a more comprehensive series of works showing his recent innovation and artistic thinking. The exhibition displays more than 60 latest oil paintings and pastels.
Li Qiang has always placed his artistic thinking on his own reflection and the exploration of the language of painting. Recently, he has firmly maintained the confrontation with his established past, trying to get rid of the smooth inertia of the painting, and began to pay attention to the contradiction and tension of the artistic language itself. He repeatedly painted magnolia, a weedy corner in the garden, and the various possibilities of arrogant branches. He then searched for a state, a natural relationship between flowers, grass, branches and the environment in which they grew. He also repeatedly painted small details, vague scenes and tried to appreciate the existence in nothingness. Li Qiang chose a difficult painting method. What he painted is a mess, an object that almost all painters find impossible to paint. However, Li Qiang regards this chaotic prosperity as an artistic subject, and his task is to solve it, and establish an aesthetic relationship in the existence of disorder.
