"Blossom - The Tenth Anniversary of The Long Museum" presents 70 marvelous paintings, and unfolds the narrative of "flowers" in four chapters: "Everlasting Flowers" focuses on the diversified roles and developments of "flower" in global art works since the 21st century: from figurative to abstract, from cartoonish to conceptual, "flower" as a reference of beauty and subject for philosophical speculation has been extended extensively in artistic expression. "Flowers in the Bloom" "Flowers in the Wild" and "Flowers and Portraits" correspond respectively to still-life flowers, flowers and landscape, flowers and portraits. Collectively these three chapters present a big picture from the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century: With the influence of the introduction of western art into China and the pioneers of modern Chinese art going to Japan, Europe and the United States to study Western painting, new possibilities emerged through the interplay between Chinese and western cultures, which could be perceived from how Chinese and global artists deal with the subject of “flower” from the above three perspectives.

Throughout the exhibition, "flowers" are intricately woven into a timeline that spans from modern artworks of mid-nineteenth century and then to contemporary art. As reflected in the works, flower can be the object in itself: it can either be an integral part of the scenery, intimate accompaniment to people, effective medium to describe concepts or cherished embedment in people's hearts. We hope that through this exhibition, more people will have the opportunity to see and enjoy flowers from a broader historical perspective, and to truly immerse in the beauty of flowers.
