Artist:Wu Bin, Ming Dynasty Handscroll, Ink and colour on paper 31x571cm Dated 1615 Wu Bin, born in Putian, Fujian province, was also known by his zi (designated name) Wenzhong, and his hao (literary name) Zhiyin, Zhiyin’s antoutuo, and Zhianfaseng. He was a painter at the Emperor’s Palace (neiting) in the Wanli period, and the secretary of Gong Bu Ministry of Works. He excelled at landscape painting and was particularly good at figure painting. The Buddha images and human figures painted by Wu feature unique appearances and forms, enabling him to stand out from the earlier painters.
