White Jade Ruyi-Sceptre Carved with an Imperial Poem

Qianlong Reign, Qing Dynasty L:37.5cm

The white jade Ruyi-Sceptre is masterly carved and polished. It is elegrantly carved on the head with a sinuous dragon in relief, in pursuit of a “flaming pearl. It symbolizes high rank and power. Above the shaft carved with an imperial poem Yong Baiyu Yunlong Ruyi (Song on a Cloud and Dragon Ruyi Sceptre) from Poetry Collection by His Majesty.
