Date : Sep 29, 2014
Organizer: D3 Report Hall, 5 floor of D Building, College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University
During the first of a series of lecture called Long Museum Lectures Come to University, Long Museum with Tongji University, inviting Ms Lorenza Baroncelli who is an architect, researcher and curator, present the exhibition curated together with Mr. Hans Ulrich Obrist at the Swiss pavilion during the 14th Venice Biennale.
Within the Biennale’s context of re-examining the fundamentals of architecture over the past century, the Swiss Pavilion focuses on the English architect Cedric Price (1925–2003) and the Swiss sociologist Lucius Burckhardt (1934–2003), two great visionaries whose work resonates with and continues to inspire new generations in the 21st century.
With the collaboration of the swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron and Atelier Bow-Wow, Agnès b., Stefano Boeri, Eleanor Bron, Elizabeth Diller, Olafur Eliasson, Liam Gillick, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Dan Graham, Dorothea von Hantelmann, Samantha Hardingham, Carsten Höller, Koo Jeong-a, Philippe Parreno, Asad Raza, Tino Sehgal, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Mirko Zardini, the Swiss pavilion will be presented as toolboxes to invent the future with elements from the past.
As Rem Koolhaas wrote of Price, and could have written equally of Burckhardt, “No one has changed architecture with fewer means.” Both Burckhardt and Price, through lapidary epigrams and a polemical genius for mobilizing the real, changed the terrain of architecture.
Long museum sincerely invites yours participation to discuss the unique charm of Architecture Art, together with Ms. Lorenza Baroncell, the famous architect, researcher, and curator, and Li xiangning, the Professor of College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University.
