On May 7, 2016, the exhibition "Beyond Clouds: Wang Jieyin" officially launched at Long Museum (West Bund). In response to this exhibition, the museum has the honour to invite the artist Wang Jieyin to share his artistic journey. The lecture will discuss the following aspects:
Why is Wang Jieyin able to wander between prints, oil paintings, ink and other languages with ease? How does he ingeniously translate traditional aesthetic codes to achieve a high degree of freedom in the new language structure? How did he find the connection between the free spirit of Western modernism and the artistic spirit of traditional Chinese literati?
At the same time, Xiao Bin, the curator of this exhibition, will share the curatorial ideas of this exhibition with the audience, interpret the exhibition’s "Juxtaposition of Ancient and Modern", and guide the audience through Wang Jieyin’s works. On one hand, audiences can enjoy the subtle and interesting details of ancient literati paintings. On the other hand, with the help of the reproduction of ancient works, audiences can also interpret and perceive the unique charm of Wang Jieyin's works.
