The title of Zhan Wang’s solo exhibition “Forms in Flux” is the latest creation and exploration by artist based on the materiality of his early works, which ranging from experiment methods to the forms of works; visual language to use of medium, and exhibition space to way of display. This exhibition aims to construct a multi-dimensional perspective between human beings, nature and society, and the inner logic between Zhan Wang’s latest works and his art practice in general.
Zhan Wang’s art experiment is not aiming at improve or diversify the style and language of sculpture itself, he focuses on the redefinition of current art system by contemplating on marginal questions such as the expression, medium and language of art. Zhan Wang wish the traditional art form, ways of expression and taste can break through the boundaries of each other, even to have forward influence on the future art making. Therefore, this kind of experimental art which comes from the outside is not only for the perfection of one specific kind of aesthetics or artistic language, but aiming for more revolutionary and breakthrough impact.
Zhan Wang’s ever innovative practice which goes beyond the limit of experience and imagination by combining technology with art touches upon the question of how to define the contemporary sculpture? How to define the identity and work of the artist? Or in the future age of AI, what will be the role of artist? For this reason, (Long Museum) wish to discuss the topic of “The Boundary and Future of Art” with artist, curators, critics and the public.
