From September 23, 2017 to February 25, 2018, the Long Museum (West Bund) and the Leiden Collection jointly present an exhibition on the Dutch Golden Age. Featuring 78 works, this exhibition will be the largest display of paintings from the Dutch Golden Age in Mainland China. The selection includes twelve paintings by Rembrandt, one painting by Vermeer, and two portraits by Hans Frals.
Rembrandt van Rijn is recognized as the greatest realist painter in 17th century Western oil painting and possibly in the entire history of art. His paintings cover a wide range of genres including portraiture, landscapes, genre paintings ,religious paintings, and history paintings. Through his works in oil and print, he has shown his perfect grasp over classical imagery. At the same time, Rembrandt is definitely a “selfie king”!
