Needle Painting Workshop
Date :  2016.9.17, 14:00-16:00
Long Museum West Bund

There is a shocking work at Long Museum's "International Women Exhibition", which is "Needle River-Yangtze River" by Maya Lin, a Chinese American artist. The artist used steel needles nailed to the wall to outline the outline of the Yangtze River, blurring the two-dimensional and three-dimensional space boundaries, and visualized the natural landscape. The reflection of metallic silver is reminiscent of the sparkling water of the Yangtze River, but it also implies the fragility and preciousness of the river.

In the world we live in, there are many seemingly powerful but possibly fragile things like mountains and rivers that require our attention and protection. What is powerful but fragile at the same time? Why does Lin Ying use the "Steel Needle" to express her feelings? How should children express such feelings?

Drawing with needles and exploring the two aspects of life, Long Museum collaborates with artspire. Children are welcomed to use their imagination and a unique way to outline the seemingly powerful but possibly fragile world. They will also understand the complexity of the world and will use their own works to awaken people's awareness towards environmental protection.
