Artist:草間 彌生 Yayoi Kusama Acrylic on canvas 91×72.7 cm 1991
Yayoi Kusama was born in 1929 in Nagano, Japan. After a stint studying traditional Japanese painting in Kyoto, Kusama left school and moved to New York in 1958.
By the 1960s, the prolific artist was producing paintings, drawings, sculpture, Happenings, installation, fashion, and film. In 1973, Kusama returned to Japan. She continues to produce paintings and sculpture, and poetry and fiction from the 1980s.

Converting her own illusion to artistic creation, Yayoi Kusama uses a lot of dotted patterns with strong color contrasts in her works, which are extending from canvas to articles, furniture, body, and even space. It is these dots that she thinks form an infinitely huge net which embodies the constant reproduction and multiplying of her life.
